More time needed for 'finishing touches', says cruise line
Explora Journeys has delayed the delivery date for its second ship, Explora II.
The vessel was initially scheduled depart on its maiden voyage on 11 August 2024, but its launch has been pushed back to 12 September 2024.
The line said it had made the decision as “more time is needed for the final finishes to the ship to guarantee the highest quality luxury standards and to ensure that the new ship delivers to the fullest on the brand’s promise of an unmatched luxury ocean experience”.

Explora II will now depart on its seven-night maiden journey on 16 September following its launch, departing from Rome and calling at Sorrento, Lipari, Trapani and Siracusa in Sicily, Valletta and Tarragona.
The line said customers booked on affected sailings will be contacted directly or through their travel agent to arrange an alternative sailing on Explora II or on sister ship Explora I.
Last year, Explora Journeys was forced to delay the launch of its first ship, Explora I, due to an issue with materials used on the vessel.
