World’s largest budget hotel chain to debut in kingdom in 2026
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is set to open 100 Super 8 by Wyndham budget hotels across Saudi Arabia in the next 10 years.
The 100 hotels will be based in cities and urban areas, close to airports and major highways, with the first set to open in 2026. Properties are planned for Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Dammam with multiple hotels in each destination if a similar strategy to the one used in China is employed.
The move, a partnership between Wyndham and Saudi operator Le Park Concord and supported by the Ministry of Tourism (pictured), aligns with the kingdom's goal to provide a variety of accommodations across a wide range of destinations.
Dimitris Manikis, President, EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said bringing Super 7 to Saudi was a strategic move to "make quality, affordable travel more accessible".

Saudi Gen Z drive domestic travel surge
“As tourism accelerates and millions of travellers visit the country each year, the demand for dependable, budget-friendly accommodation continues to grow, whether you are travelling for business or leisure."
Fiaz Talal Alenezi, CEO of Le Park Concord Company added that there was “a clear need for more branded economy hotels” and that the partnership with Wyndham would “address this gap”.
While luxury accommodation dominates among domestic travellers, according to Saudi travel firm Almosafer, budget-friendly options (three-star and below properties) are gaining traction as they become more widely available.
Just 6% of Saudi's hotel pipeline is in the economy and midscale segments, according to Knight Frank, creating an opportunity for Super 8.
Founded in the US in 1974 and now the world's largest budget hotel chain, Super 8 has almost 2,700 locations worldwide, including across China and Europe. Super 8 properties are prefabricated, with construction of a property taking as little as six months.
