Fairmont to open hotel on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah

Development marks first property for brand in UAE’s fast-growing emirate

Fairmont is set to open a hotel in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), marking the brand’s first property in the northern emirate and sixth in the UAE.

Around a 90-minute drive from Dubai, RAK is rapidly emerging as a major tourism hub, with a record 1.28 million overnight arrivals in 2024, climbing 5% from 2023

Scheduled to open in 2028, the 250-key Fairmont hotel will be located on Al Marjan Island, which is set to welcome a wave of new hotel openings in the next few years, including the debut of Wynn Resort in 2027, the region’s first casino resort

A partnership with Ardee Development, Fairmont Al Marjan Island will be joined by Fairmont Residences Al Marjan Island with 519 residences, and will be part of Ardee’s multi-billion-dirham waterfront destination spanning 2.5 million square feet.

Developed with a community-first ethos, Ardee Al Marjan Island is a “thoughtfully curated coastal lifestyle destination” for global travellers who value luxury, connection and community, said Romeo Abdo, Founder of Ardee Developments.

The community will include beach access, interactive green spaces, pedestrian-friendly boulevards and multiple dining and leisure experiences.

Commenting on Fairmont’s entry into RAK, Omer Acar, CEO at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said Ras Al Khaimah presented a “compelling opportunity” for expansion.

“With its natural beauty, ambitious vision for tourism and growing appeal among global travellers and investors, the emirate is perfectly aligned with Fairmont’s brand values and future-forward growth strategy.”

Among the UAE’s fastest-growing destinations, Ras Al Khaimah is undergoing  a remarkable transformation, as it looks to attract 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030.

Hotel inventory in the emirate expected to more than double by 2027, according to Stirling Hospitality Advisors. RAK will welcome more than 15 international hotel operators, with new entrants including Wynn, Millennium, Radisson Red, Ushuaïa and Rove, which recently opened a 441-key beachfront property on Al Marjan Island.
