Hawar Resort by Mantis will feature a Bear Grylls Survival Academy training camp and overwater villas
Bahrain's Hawar Resort by Mantis is in the final stages of completion, with the team preparing for a late-December 2024 opening.
Situated 20km from the main island of Bahrain, sustainability is a key pillar of the beachfront resort, which is inviting guests to embark on land and water adventures while enjoying luxury stays.
Recognised by UNESCO for its natural history, Hawar Island is expected to attract nature lovers looking for an eco-focused retreat experience.
Hawar Resort by Mantis has 102 rooms and overwater villas, with decor inspired by the ancient custom of Al-Korar, a Bahraini tradition of weaving thobes – Arabian garments – together.
The resort’s overwater villas all have a private pool and views of the Arabian Gulf. Each has been designed to appear to float on the water.
The architecture draws from traditional Bahraini construction techniques, blending local materials such as limestone with modern influences.
Tent-like structures, inspired by nomadic history, shade the resort’s buildings and terraces, casting cooling shadows across it.

A standout facility of the resort is a Bear Grylls Survival Academy (BGSA) Train Like Bear Zone, designed by Bear Grylls and his team of instructors.
The Academy offers a range of survival courses and outdoor challenges that test participants' resilience, teamwork and outdoor skills, creating a memorable experience for guests.
Complementing the BGSA Train Like Bear Zone, is an array of other outdoor activities and water sports, including stand-up paddle-boarding and kayaking. Younger guests can retreat to the kids’ and teens’ club.
There's also an onsite spa, a pool, a gym and five dining outlets, including an all-day dining restaurant, a poolside grill and C-Salt, an innovative dining venue that will host seasonal pop-ups and host guest chefs.
The resort has integrated eco-friendly initiatives such as waste sorting, biodegradable waste reuse, and advanced water and energy conservation technologies. This commitment ensures that the natural beauty of Hawar Island remains preserved for future generations, making it a responsible choice for conscientious travellers.
