Patrick Cyril Baptist has 30 years of global hospitality experience

Patrick Cyril Baptist has been appointed General Manager of Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha, bringing with him more than 30 years of global leadership experience in the premium, luxury and upscale hospitality sectors.

Baptist is tasked with driving growth and operational excellence at the five-star business hotel, which reopened in February 2025 with 400 revamped rooms and suites.

An award-winning hotelier, Baptist has spearheaded high-profile transformations across Europe, the UK and the Middle East during his three decade-long career.

In his most recent role as GM at Aloft Abu Dhabi for six years, he led the property through a period of significant change, introducing new F&B concepts, including the UAE’s first kosher kitchen in a Marriott property, and driving index points on RevPar growth.

Under his leadership, Aloft Abu Dhabi achieved a 28% increase in revenue, 44% rise in gross operating profit and a dramatic improvement in guest satisfaction, elevating the property to #14 on TripAdvisor, from #92.

Among Baptist’s earlier roles, he led London’s Strand Palace Hotel through a £60 million (AED295 million) refurbishment and oversaw a financial turnaround at Ireland’s Carton House Golf Resort. He began his career as a Commis Chef at Shangri-La Singapore, rising to Area Director of F&B for the UK & Ireland.

Baptist was named 2021 Global GM of the Year for Aloft Brands and Chair of Marriott UAE’s NextGen Business Council.

Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha features 400 rooms and suites, including a Fitness Suite with foldable treadmill, and is located near Hamad International Airport and key landmarks including the Corniche. The property has several dining venues, including al fresco Lebanese venue Nafourah Garden, and extensive amenities, including a rooftop pool, spa, state-of-the-art meeting facilities and a lobby with ergonomic workstations.
