Flights from UK capital to Saudi's Holy City begin 1 August 2025
Low-cost carrier Wizz Air will become the first airline to fly direct from London to Medina (Madinah) in Saudi Arabia, with the new daily service launching on 1 August 2025. One-way fares will start from US$300.
The airline will use the new longer-range Airbus A321 XLR for the route from London Gatwick (LGW) to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED), with a capacity of 239 seats per flight.
That means the airline will provide more than 174,000 seats a year in both directions, making the Holy City more accessible than ever.
Marion Geoffroy, Managing Director at Wizz Air UK, said: “We strive to make flying as accessible as possible, and this new direct route will give thousands of travellers the chance to connect with a city rich in culture and history, for an affordable price,” said Geoffroy.
Adding Medina and Jeddah to Wizz Air’s network from the UK aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 which aims to diversify the economy and boost tourism.
