Dubai-based Emirates to add third daily flight to Barcelona

UAE airline to offer 21 flights a week from October

Dubai-based Emirates is ramping up services to Barcelona, adding a third daily flight to the Spanish city amid rising demand.

Barcelona is an increasingly popular destination for UAE travellers, with holiday searches for the Catalan capital up 75% in summer 2025, according to recent research by Expedia

Visitor highlights include landmarks such as the Sagrada Familia cathedral and Park Güell, districts such as the Gothic Quarter and La Rambla, as well as the city’s popular beaches.

With the new service, Emirates will operate 21 weekly flights to Barcelona, increasing its total Spain operations to 35 weekly flights, including 14 to Madrid. 

From 26 October, the new daily flight will depart Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 03:45, arriving at Barcelona Airport (BCN) at 08:15. The return flight will leave BCN at 15:10, arriving at DXB at 00:35 the next morning.

The second service departs DXB at 08:15, arriving at BCN at 12:50. The return flight leaves BCN at 15:30, arriving at DXB at 01:00 the next day. The final service leaves DXB at 14:00, arriving at BCN at 18:35, with the return leaving BCN at 20:25 and arriving at DXB at 05:55 the following day. 

The expanded schedule will also facilitate seamless connections from Barcelona to popular destinations across the Emirates network, including the Maldives, Bangkok, Bali, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Tickets for the new service are already available for booking.

Dubai-based Emirates Group, which comprises Emirates and Dnata, has seen profits soar in the last year, reaching record highs to become the world’s most profitable airline.

Emirates reported record profits of US$5.8 billion for the financial year ending 31 March 2025, up 20% on the previous year, with revenues rising to a record US$34.9 billion, up 6%. That represents a profit margin of 14.9%.
