Germany debut for Kimpton with design-led hotel in Frankfurt

Boutique property opens with Bauhaus-inspired design and a rooftop restaurant

IHG’s luxury lifestyle brand Kimpton has made its debut in Germany with the opening of the Kimpton Main Frankfurt in the heart of the city’s vibrant financial district.

Nestled beneath the striking towers of mixed-use development Four Frankfurt, the 155-room hotel was once the headquarters of Deutsche Bank and has been given a contemporary redesign courtesy of London-based architects Waldo Works.

With a nod to Germany’s Bauhaus heritage, the hotel’s forward-thinking design evokes an elegant 1950s aesthetic that has been brought bang up to date through colourful, playful elements.

Blending German modernism with a softer, handcrafted style, interiors from the lobby to the suites combine clean geometric shapes with warm colours, including shades of blue, rust and emerald green, and flashes of chrome and crystal.

Design-led rooms are light-filled

There are nine design-led accommodations to choose from, all including walk-in showers and yoga mats, and featuring curated artworks inspired by the Bauhaus tradition, from 3D sculptures to geometric, colourful collages by artist Monika Gardyla.

Dining venues include an all-day brasserie (Anni) dishing up European classics, and rooftop bar and restaurant Lazuli, which serves small plates, sharing dishes and creative cocktails, and is set to open in April 2025.

Inspired by a cruise ship terrace, Lazuli features maritime-themed decor and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the city’s skyline.

Like all Kimpton hotels, this one offers in-room pet accessories upon request and bikes to borrow, giving guests the opportunity to explore the city.

The Kimpton Main Frankfurt is among a handful of hotels opening in Frankfurt in 2025, with the 181-key Hyatt Kennedy 89 Hotel Frankfurt also set to open its doors this month.

Nestled in the elegant Sachsenhausen district, the hotel’s accommodations all come with kitchens and private balconies, and there’s a rooftop bar and a restaurant serving Middle Eastern cuisine.

Opening in summer 2025, The Florentin will breathe new life into a Frankfurt landmark, while the city’s landmark luxury hotel Hessischer Hof is scheduled to reopen as a 134-key Taj Hotel.
