Locally-inspired design and experiences take centre stage

Marriott’s The Isolano, Cres, Autograph Collection, will open in Croatia in March 2025.

The boutique property, situated on Cres Island in the northern Adriatic Sea, marks the Marriott brand’s first foray into Croatia.

Just an hour from the Croatian mainland, Cres Island is the joint-largest of the country’s 47 inhabited islands, home to dense forests, soaring cliffs, hidden coves, ancient hilltop towns and the largest natural lake in Croatia.

Nestled within a lush pine grove overlooking the ocean, the coastal retreat features 49 guestrooms and suites, each offering private balconies with sea views and tech-driven amenities.

Thoughtfully curated interiors by designer Kristina Zanic pay homage to the Adriatic coastline, with the hotel's striking geometric architecture fashioned from locally sourced Brac Island stone and a colour palette featuring shades of white, grey, sand, navy and cognac.

Local artisans have played a key role in bringing The Isolano's vision to life. The lobby doubles as an art gallery, showcasing the work of Croatian painter Solis, and guestrooms feature wooden benches and rich fabrics handcrafted by skilled Croatian artisans.

At Restaurant Moise, Chef Alexander Kerekes combines local ingredients and traditional methods to create dishes that celebrate the island’s bounty. Guests can feast on fresh seafood matched with Croatian wines while watching the sunset from the terrace.

The property's wellness offerings include two outdoor heated pools, a well-equipped gym and extensive spa, whose menu of treatments use local ingredients such as honey and endemic plant species. A mixology workshop lets guests create personalised botanical blends.

From the hotel, a 10-minute stroll along the waterfront leads to the city of Cres, home to Renaissance-era landmarks, gothic churches and a cafe-lined harbour. The island is very well connected to the mainland by ferry.
