Cruise line to repeat charity initiative after success of inaugural event in UK

Norwegian Cruise Line has thanked travel agents for walking nearly 100,000 miles in May and raising US$18,960 for Abta LifeLine and the ITAA Benevolent Fund.

In its inaugural UK Walk for Wellness scheme, the cruise line challenged the travel trade to collectively walk 40,000 miles during the month of May to encourage agents to spend time outside as well as raise awareness of mental health challenges.

Agents had smashed the 40,000 miles target by 16 May, and NCL donated US$18,960 to Abta Lifeline and the ITAA Benevolent Fund in their name.

The line encouraged its trade partners to continue walking to support their own mental health and be in with a chance to win some prizes, and by 31 May 2024, more than 1,200 agents had gotten involved in the scheme, walking a total of 98,000 miles, sharing their stories across social media platforms.

NCL thanked all the agents who got involved in the scheme for their “outstanding energy and enthusiasm” and confirmed it would repeat its Walk for Wellness initiative in 2025 in the UK and potentially in other markets, too.
